Thanks,

With the USB connected, if the printer was not yet added, please add it as AirPrint.

Download and follow below utility to update the latest firmware update for the printer:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/EN6000_2049A/EN6000_2049A.exe

Once completing the update, restart both the Mac and the printer and try printing, if there is no change try removing the printer and then re-adding it as Airprint.

May you see any difference?

Also, what application are you printing from? make sure that it is not set it Black Ink only under the Color or Quality section of the settings.

Hi,

Please make sure your OS is fully up to date and check for any difference:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541

If installing the latest updates doesn't resolve the issue, below steps should likely help for my experience:

Please let me know how it goes,

Shlomi

Thank you for trying to help.  The OS is fully up to date  Big Sur 11.2.3

I've tried everything in the links you provided with no luck.  FYI if I send the document to a different printer, it prints in color so it isn't my iMac, it's the printer or how my computer is interfacing with the printer.

Click the Apple icon and select System Preferences and the Printers & Scanners, then click the plus sign, hoe exactly the printer is listed? What is listed as the Kind?

Select it and allow it 30 seconds, what options are available within the Use drop-down menu?

Thank you for all your helpful suggestions and for exhibiting such patience with me and my printer problem.  The problem has been solved and I can print both excel and word documents in color.  I tried rebooting the computer, removing the USB cable and rebooting the printer.  None of those attempts made a difference.  I then followed your suggestion to remove the printer from my system and then reinstall it & it is now printing in color.  Perhaps my leaving the USB cable connected after first installing the printer was the reason for the problem?  I'll never know because I'm not going to reattach it!  Many Thanks!

With real pleasure @SafroniaB, great to see the problem is resolved and you are now finally able to print color!

I tried to open the application "EN6000_2049A.exe" but the Microsoft Windows application is not supported on my Mac0s.  Is there another way I can remedy the problem of my HP ENVY6055 not printing in color?

HP Recommended

Hi,

This is a firmware update utility for Windows, not for mac OS.

Please follow below steps to add the printer using HP Smart or remove and re-add the printer, this should likely resolve the problem:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2026537-1681507-16

If you experience further issues, please create a new post with the details of your problem, the connection type and your OS version, as this is a different topic which was resolved, let's keep it in order so other users too will be able to benefit from the information.

Cheers,

Shlomi
