I've tried printing from various apps. Word and Photoshop have different setups but encounter the same issue. Word documents don't print the footers as they are cut off. Photoshop has similar issues and the bottom of the image gets cut off. Margins in Word are set to narrow and there are no margins at all in Photoshop. However, Photoshop does show a large bottom margin on the print preview screen indicating the margins are being set by the printer. How do I get rid of these margins? Or set things up so the bottom can print. It's a good 3/4 inch bottom margin. Thanks.

I would guess the printer just started misbehaving else you would never have used it like this.
The following does not address driver settings (for example, paper size / type / margins).
Some places to check ...
Windows OS
First, make sure Windows Updates are current and are not "pending" to have the computer restarted.
If you want to do so, Restart everything including the router, computer, printer...
Hardware and Firmware
Reference document - Open:
Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly
Consider / Complete:
Step 2 - Restart the printer
and
Step 3 - Update the Printer Firmware
HP ENVY Photo 7100 All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update
and
Step 4 - Plug the printer directly into a power outlet

Printer Software
Full Feature Software / full driver printer software
Software might be corrupted or "just stuck".
Just "stuck"
Try / Consider
Remove / Re-add printer in Devices and Printers
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers
Right-Click on Printer > Remove Device
Along top ribbon > Add Printer
The printer I want isn’t listed…
Add the printer using the IP - TCP/IP address
OR
Not stuck - stubborn, broken, exhibiting odd behavior
Preparation / Help
Printer Software
- Uninstall the existing printer software from Programs and Features
- Restart the computer and log in
Next
- If using USB, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the installation. Connect the cable when instructed to do so (toward the end of the installation procedure).
Next,
Install the full driver printer software.
Note: Your printer supports using the Easy Start wrapper to install the printer software.
Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software
For printers that support the option,
Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.
- Home Page - HP Easy Start
- Open Category Software and Drivers
- Topic: Software-Utility
- Download-and-Save the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software
- If using USB: Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
- Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
- Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
- If using USB: Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
- After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.
Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey
- Full Administrator Rights are required to complete the HP Software installation.
- About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).
- You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.
- If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription. Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.
- Full driver includes print and scan functions supported by your printer and provides the printer features on which other applications / software might depend.

Thanks for the reply. I've given your answer a thumbs up as it contained a solution that I found anyway. I updated the firmware for the printer which forced a re-install of drivers (instead of the ones from Windows). After this the margins for the printer are where they should be. Whether it's the firmware or the drivers I'm not sure but the problem is now resolved.

You are welcome.
In this instance, it was more likely the Firmware Update (very recent to this writing and why it was included in the suggestions).
That said, Firmware update does frequently kick off the action to reload the driver. (And) Yes, you do want / need to have the full driver printer software installed as opposed to only Windows drivers and / or only HP Smart app.
You are "good to go". Smiling.
Stay Safe.
Carry On.
