Okay, so I have a HP 7520 all in one printer. It was working fine until about three weeks ago where it started to tell me that anytime I tried to print from my Macbook Pro (OS Sierra) or my iPad (Latest version of OS) it kept saying that the paper size was incorrect. I do not have a printer that can bypass that message. So, after a driver and firmware update, it began working again. However, the problem has started up again and I have nothing to update and I've tried all of the steps HP says to do when this happens. I have even attempted to fiddle with the paper settings under the printer options on the computer.
So, can anyone help me?
Sidenote: The other laptop in the house (a parent's) has Windows 7 and I have had no problems printing from there, so far.

Hi @Liz_A,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding a query relating to incorrect paper size while printing. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after any recent software changes or OS updates to your Mac products
For now please try these steps:
- If the printer is printing from Windows then the printer has no issue. It is an issue with the IOS here.
- For the computer please try these steps:
- Reset the Mac printing system by following the steps from this link: http://hp.care/2gOrf2g
Then add the printer by following these steps:
1.) Click the Apple menu icon, and then click System Preferences.
2.) Click Printers and Scanners, Print and Scan, or Print and Fax.
3.) In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button to delete it.
4.) Click the Add button.
5.) Find, and then select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.
6.) Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer.
7.) Avoid the AirPrint driver. Once the correct HP driver is chosen, select Add to add the printer to the list.
8.) Try to print.
This should normally fix the issue.
For the IPad please uninstall the HP Smart app and reinstall it and check again. Please try the steps from this link: http://hp.care/2iAt1oD for information about HP smart app download, installation and FAQs.
Also, try the Apple AirPrint feature on your IPAD or iPhone. Link: http://hp.care/2izvsYu on how to use it.
Please check this link: http://hp.care/2xHt31k for changing print driver settings in MAC
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
