Hi @mmariluch,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Photosmart 7525 e-All-in-One Printer keeps going offline and you cannot find the option to update the firmware through the Embedded Web Server (EWS), there are several troubleshooting steps you can take:

1. Check for Firmware Updates Manually:

Since the firmware update option is missing from the EWS, you can try updating the printer firmware using the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Using HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  1. Install the HP Smart app on your macOS Big Sur if it's not already installed.
  2. Add your printer to the app.
  3. Navigate to the Settings or Tools section in the app and look for a firmware update option.

Using HP Website:

  1. Go to the HP Customer Support page.
  2. Enter your printer model (HP Photosmart 7525 e-All-in-One).
  3. Select Drivers & Software > Firmware.
  4. If a firmware update is available, download it and follow the installation instructions.

2. Disable Energy-Saving Settings (Sleep Mode):

If the printer goes offline after being idle, it could be entering sleep mode, making it appear offline. Try disabling or adjusting sleep mode settings:

  1. Open the EWS by typing your printer's IP address into a browser.
  2. Go to Settings or System.
  3. Look for options related to Power Management or Energy Saver.
  4. Adjust the sleep mode settings or disable them entirely.

3. Assign a Static IP Address:

Setting a static IP address can help prevent the printer from losing connection after a period of inactivity.

  1. Open the EWS.
  2. Navigate to Network or Networking.
  3. Under IP Address Configuration, select Manual or Static.
  4. Enter an IP address within your router’s range, but outside its automatic assignment range (check your router’s settings for this).

4. Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure that both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart your router, printer, and Mac.
  • Move the printer closer to the router to improve the Wi-Fi signal strength.

5. Check Printer Queue on macOS:

Sometimes, macOS can hold a job in the print queue that makes it appear the printer is offline.

  1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your printer from the list.
  3. Click on Open Print Queue and remove any stuck jobs.

Refer to this document: HP Photosmart 7525 e-All-in-One Printer User manual
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
