I recently purchased the HP OfficeJet 8015e All-In-One Printer from Best Buy. It works and prints really well, a lot better than my previous HP Envy 6255 Photo All-In-One printer, which I had almost 9 years. I'm not sure why I waited so long to upgrade. The only thing I cannot figure out is how to keep the paper from falling on the floor. I cannot seem to find or locate the stopper/or lip that is normally at the end of the paper tray? Can one tell me where to find it on this model? Does this model have one? The setup guide shows a picture implying there is one, but not explaining where or showing its location.

Hi @MAC1988
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's great to hear that you're enjoying your new HP OfficeJet 8015e printer! It’s a solid upgrade over the HP Envy 6255. The issue you're describing with the paper falling out of the tray is something that many users have encountered when setting up a new printer, especially when the paper tray doesn't seem to have the paper stopper or lip that would normally keep the paper in place.
In the case of the HP OfficeJet 8015e, it does have a paper stopper, but it’s a little different than older models. Here's how to locate and adjust the paper stopper on your printer:
1. Locate the Paper Tray Extension/Stopper
The HP OfficeJet 8015e uses an adjustable paper tray, and while it doesn't have a large stopper or lip that sticks out, the tray itself is designed with a retractable stopper for the paper.
Steps:
- Pull out the paper tray (the input tray, the one where you load paper).
- Look closely at the paper tray. You should see a small, retractable paper stopper at the front edge of the tray (near where the paper would exit).
- This retractable stopper is usually a plastic flap that pops out to hold the paper in place.
- To use it, slide the tray extension out fully, and you'll see the stopper automatically extend to prevent paper from falling out of the tray.
2. Adjust the Paper Tray
Once the stopper is extended, ensure that the paper stack is properly aligned. Here's how to avoid paper falling out:
- Load the paper into the input tray.
- Adjust the paper width guides so that the paper is snug and not too loose.
- The stopper should now hold the paper securely, but if you're loading a full stack, sometimes the paper can still spill out if the tray is not filled correctly or if the paper is overstuffed.
3. Check for Tray Height Adjustments
If you still find that the paper is falling out, check whether you need to adjust the height of the tray or reduce the amount of paper you're loading into the tray.
- The paper tray has a specific capacity limit, and overloading it can prevent the stopper from functioning correctly.
- Try reducing the amount of paper and see if the stopper works better.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I just spent an hour playing with set up of my 8015e for about 30 minutes concerning paper tray issues. especially the gray cover on the end of the end of the paper tray. it is a struggle to take that out and then get it re-seated correctly. Anyway, look closely at the the very end of that gray cover over the tray. You will see a slight opening about 1/16 of an inch wide that goes across the end of the tray. I was able to get my finger in there and pull it out. It slides straight out and extends the exit slide for the printed paper and lo and behold as you pull it back , it has a sort of paper stop that rises up. Hope this helps.
