Hi, I have a HP8122e, it is one month old and stuck on Firmware update with no way to return to the Home Screen. I have recently changed Internet providers and cannot get this printer connected while it is stuck on this screen. Off and on, waiting a minute, hour or even overnight does not work. Can anybody suggest something or should I return it?

@Caroline127, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8122e is stuck on a firmware update screen and you're unable to connect it to Wi-Fi after switching internet providers. Let's try to get your printer back up and running with these steps:
Power Reset the Printer
Sometimes a simple reset can help:
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cable from the back.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on if it doesn’t start automatically.
If the printer is still stuck on the firmware update screen, proceed to the next step.
Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
Since you changed your internet provider, the printer may be trying to connect to the old network. Let’s reset the Wi-Fi settings:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
- This should restore the printer to Wi-Fi setup mode (the wireless light should blink blue).
Connect Using HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC: HP Smart
- Open the app and follow the prompts to add a new printer.
- The app should detect the printer in setup mode and guide you through connecting it to your new Wi-Fi.
Update Firmware via USB (if needed)
If the printer remains stuck and cannot connect to Wi-Fi:
- Download the latest firmware from HP’s official site: Official HP® Support
- Use a USB cable to connect the printer to your PC.
- Run the firmware update tool and follow the on-screen instructions.
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
