HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e All-in-One Printer

Yet again this printer nearly had a flying trip out the window. Why does it not 'auto detect' what paper is in the tray ????- cannot get the thing to print an envelope as it keeps coming up 'paper mismatch' and cancels the print.

This has to be the worst printer ever and if I cannot sort this issues out - its in the bin for sure

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The "Why" --

The printer lacks a paper size and type sensor.

Automatic Paper SensorNo

When you change the paper in the printer there are methods to modify / change the paper size / type information.

For example,

OR

  • Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Next,

Adjust the settings in your job configuration to the new / different paper size / type.

Tray and Paper

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Paper > Trays > click on Tray to configure

Next  (in addition and as available)

Section Print > Default Print Options > Select default tray

Example - EWS - Tray and Paper

"Can't stand it"

We do not judge what people decide.

It's a nice printer -- not quite "top tier" for this type of OfficeJet Pro but close.

If your region supports recycling or donations, consider that as an option to simply "binning" the printer.

When you replace the printer, check the tech-notes for automatic paper sensor capabilities.
