Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Still no lock getting the printer to run.

I have read through many of the previous posts and resolutions and have performed most of them:

1) downloaded and installed firmware update(s) OJ8610.exe & OJP8610_R1733A

2) removed power form back of printer and wall - then reinstalled after 60 seconds

3) reseated print head 3 times

4) installed all 4 new HP cartridges

5) cleaned all contact heads

6) i cannot run the Clean Printhead option because it reverts back to the catridge problem error screen

And I still get the Cartridge Problem on all four cartridges - what else can I do?  Printer is less than 2 years old.

Thanks!

Hi,

What country are you from?

From your start menu search for HP Smart and open the app.

If your printer is not listed, click the Plus sign and select your printer.

Click the printer picture and then click on supported cartridges.

What is listed under Installed and what under Supported? be sure to include the exact value including the listed zone for both (e.g. 950XL Z10, etc.)

Hi Shlomi,

Thanks for the quick response.

I am from the United States.

ZONE M - Catridge Missing (951XL,951)

ZONE C - Catridge Missing (951XL,951)

ZONE Y - Catridge Missing (951XL,951)

ZONE K - Incompatible Catridge (951XL,950) - BTW I have an HP catridge installed.

Thanks

Do you have all 4 ink cartridges installed on the printer?

Can you see Z10 listed on the cartridge's label?

From seeing your description, a mechanical problem is possible, as it seems the printer does not read most cartridges at all.

Please remove all 4 ink cartridges and follow steps 7, 9 and 10 (remove printhead, reinsert printhead and then reseat printhead up to 3 times.

Once done, insert all cartridges back, restart the printer and check for any difference.

May you see any change?

I do not have all 4 catridges installed. Only black. The other 3 I havent had in awhile. Z10 is not listed on the label. I purchased this catridge awhile ago and didnt neet to install until recently because I dont use my printer that often.

I have reseated the catridged 3 times still no luck.

Thanks

Sorry, forgot to include the link, meant to reseat the printhead and not the cartridge:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8610-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5367603/model...

However, as you do not have all cartridges, the printer cannot work without all 4 cartridges installed with ink, resolving any error related to the black cartridge will do nothing till there will be color cartridges too.

For consideration, the issue may be with the black cartridge itself and might be with the printer, but without all cartridges, you would not be able to know where the issue is and will not be able to use the printer.

No problem I am familiar with the reseat process!

But prior to this error, I did not have the colored catridges installed, only black and I had no issues.

Its when I had to replace the catridge, that is when the error started to show.

That's strange, your printer cannot work with any empty cartridge, surely not with any missing cartridge:

Ok I will go ahead and buy the color cartridges and see if this resolves the issue. I will keep you posted. Thxs

Also consider the Black cartridge, while the color cartridges are missing the Black one is listed as incompatible which may indicate a faulty cartridge.

I suggest going back to the retailer and check the cartridge if it is within its warranty period. the warranty end date should be listed on the cartridge:
