I have several Win10 PCs and none of them will print to a HP 8610 (wireless connection to Cisco E3000 router) using the standard installation of the HP software. Print jobs remain stuck in the print queue. The only way I can achieve printing is by manually adding and using a standard TCP/IP port with the printer IP address. The default WSD port created during the HP sofware installation, which I assume stands for web services printer, doesn't work. This same printer in a Windows 8.1 environment works fine without any additional tweeking.

Why is this and what can be done to realize a functional printing experience that is less cumbersome?

I discovered that the wireless network settings on all the PCs were set to Public. I set them to Private netwok, deleted the printer and re-scanned for the HP8610 and it now works great.

Hi @Jay56,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums.

I understand the only way you can print to your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer is to manually add the printer using a standard TCP/IP port with the printer IP address. I would like to help you with that.

Using a standard TCP/IP port, is definitely a workaround for this issue.

Here is a document that may assist you with the print queue issue - Print Jobs Stuck in Print Queue (Windows). There is an HP Guided Solution that may be useful.

It may be useful to set a manual IP address for the printer. Here is a document that can help with that if needed - 'Offline' Printer Status Message Displays (Windows 10).

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

rb011,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, assigning a fixed IP address to the printer did not resolve the issue with the apparent non-functional WSD port.

Hi @Jay56,

Thanks for letting me know how it went.

Fixing the WSD port issue by adding the printer with a TCP/IP is what is suggested, but I do see that it is not a permanent fix for a lot of people.

I was looking for more information and came across a post at the Windows Server forum that you Discusses this issue. Source

I hope you are able to find a way around this issue. This may be a post more suited for the Microsoft Community forum.
