Operating System: Linux

Have been using the HP 8710 printer with 952XL inks ... Paid arm and leg to buy the original black ink 952XL ... tried to install and it says older generation cartridge ... are we serious ? Am very disappointed and dont have a way to downgrade the stupid firmware ... How can this problem be solved ?
