HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Printer

My brand new HP 8740 started OK, I selected English then it asked if I wanted General Setup (or something like that) or IT Setup. 

As soon as I hit General Setup it displayed a "Checking the Printer" message that dose not go away after even an hour. 

 

If I hit the power button it shuts down OK, but goes back to the same "Checking the Printer" screen. There is no back button or anything else I can hit to get it into another mode.

 

I have not connected wireless or the computer, and I have not even been able to install the ink.

 

Please advise!

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

We have to perform a Semi Full Reset to unlock the features of the printer.

 

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer. 

 

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
