HP DeskJet Pro 9018eExample: Pavilion 6530
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

9018e cycles or runs for 5 sec or so every hour or so. It is like the print head moves and resets. Anyway to stop.

Thanks for your reply. I had tried the above from another post and it did not work. Went back and re seated all the print cartridges. Turns out one of the cartridges may not have been seated correctly. This seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks.

@JMC382, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

It seems like the printer maintenance cycle. This is as per design. However, it should not occur frequentely. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
