HP App Will Not Download To Laptop

Just bought the HP Deskjet 2620.

I have completed the set up on my I phone and also Ipad, but my HP laptop (Windows 10 Home) will not download the HP App from the Microsoft Store. I get a 'starting download' message that has now been there for over 12 hours. Tried switching on and off etc but each time I open up Microsoft Store the same message repeats. Totally at a loss as to why it wont download onto an HP laptop, I would have thought that it was more compatible than Apple products?

Run Windows Update

Select the Start button . Type Update in the search box, and select Windows Update from the list of results. In the left pane, select Change settings, and then under Important updates, select Install updates automatically (recommended).

Then download and install HP smart app
