2510 Series Printer

I want to use 2510 with HP App over the network.

The 2510 printer is shared on the network through another Windows 10.

Is it possible to use HP app with it over the network?

I tried from the Windows 10 and from Android. It is able to see it sometimes but does not add it.

If I install HP app on the server PC too and connect both apps to the same account, will it then be able to work with it?

I have not been able to find information in regards to using shared printer with HP App.

Please advise!

I found a program that will allow to share any USB connection over LAN.

The program is called USB Network Gate. It is not a free program but it does have a trail period.

This cons of this program is that it does not allow for the device to be used on the local machine while it is sharing it.

I have successfully managed to scan a document over the network for the HP 2510 printer using the USB Network Gate.

Hi,

HP Smart allow discovering a USB connected printer to a computer via a cable, or a network enabled printer connected to the same network, a Windows shared printer can only be used to print over a printer sharing, not any other capabilities as the HP Smart or the HP Scan software, any such cannot work with a shared printer.

Thanks for the response.

Are there any plans to include the shared printers to work with HP Smart App?

There are many people that would need that feature to be included.

Can it be done if the Printer is added directly to the router through the USB port?

HP Recommended

No, Windows sharing or a Print Server (a USB printer port of a router) only allow sharing a printer to multiple devices, a USB connection allow scanning for a single device with a supported USB printer, to allow scanning from multiple devices you would need a network-enabled printer, a such is not supported for a USB only printer as a Deskjet 2510.

OK, Is there an alternative way to use scanning over the network with HP products?

Is there any update about my last post about having an alternative app that I can use to use Scanner over the network with a shared USB printer over the network?
