Hi @MaxDisc

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing this—I'm really sorry you're running into trouble with the HP app on macOS 14 (Tahoe). It’s frustrating when your printer is ready but the software refuses to cooperate.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore printing and scanning functionality with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e.

1. Use AirPrint Instead of the HP App macOS includes native support for many HP printers.

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + to add a printer.
  • Select your OfficeJet Pro 8139e and choose AirPrint as the driver.
  • Try printing or scanning directly from macOS apps like Preview or Safari.

2. Download HP Easy Start (Alternative Installer) This tool can bypass app issues and install drivers directly.

3. Reset the Printing System This clears out any stalled configurations.

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  • Re-add your printer using AirPrint or HP Easy Start.

4. Check macOS Firewall and Security Settings The app may be blocked from accessing the network.

  • Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall and retry the app.
  • Also check System Settings > Privacy & Security > App Management to ensure HP apps are allowed.

5. Monitor HP’s Software Updates HP may release a Tahoe-compatible version soon.

Please try these steps and let me know how your printer responds. I truly hope this gets you back to printing and scanning without delay.

If anything still feels stuck, I’ll be right here to help you troubleshoot further.
