HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw

I tried to access the Embedded Web Server of my new HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw; the default admin + blank password does not work. Then I tried the admin + WPS PIN number got from the Network Configuration Report, but it does not work either. Finally i tried a Menu => Network => Clear settings, but the WPS PIN number does not change and it still does not work.

What can I do now?

It turned out that there is a bug in the Embedded Web Server: the login dialog box works only if you open the URL using the printer IP address, if you have a DNS name associated with the printer and you use that name in the URL, the login does not work even if you use the correct password.

I consider this a serious bug in the web user interface, because the login fails without any message.
