Hi @RiWa2

Thank you for your response.

Here’s a breakdown of your questions regarding printer calibration:

Calibration During Start

  • Meaning of "Calibration During Start": This setting typically refers to whether the printer calibrates itself immediately when it is turned on or after a certain time period (like 1 hour). If you set it to "at once," the calibration will occur as soon as the printer starts. If you set it to "1 hour," it will calibrate after the printer has been on for an hour.
  • Purpose: Calibration ensures that the printer produces accurate colors and consistent print quality. It helps align the print head and adjust color output based on the printer's condition.

Calibration Time

  • 168 Hours Maximum: This likely means the printer will perform calibration after being idle for that duration. Unfortunately, if the printer doesn’t allow a longer period like a month, you’ll have to work with the available options.
  • Preference for Calibration: If you prefer calibration after every start, you can select the "at once" option for immediate calibration. If there's no option to disable the calibration time altogether, you may need to keep the setting at 168 hours.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @RiWa2

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The quality calibration settings for the HP Color LaserJet 3202 help ensure that your prints maintain consistent quality and color accuracy over time. Here’s a breakdown of the settings you mentioned:

Purpose of Print Quality Calibration

Calibration Time:

  • This setting determines how often the printer automatically calibrates itself to maintain optimal print quality. It helps adjust the printer’s performance to account for variations in toner, paper type, and environmental factors. Regular calibration can improve color consistency and overall print quality.

Calibration During Start:

  • When enabled, this setting ensures that the printer performs a calibration check every time it is powered on. This can help address any issues that might have developed since the last calibration, ensuring that the first few prints after startup are of high quality.

Good Settings

Calibration Time: A good setting often depends on your printing frequency. If you print regularly, setting it to calibrate once a week can be effective. If your printing is less frequent, you might extend this to every month.

Calibration During Start: It’s generally advisable to keep this setting enabled, as it helps ensure that each printing session starts with optimal settings, especially if the printer has been powered off for a while.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your answer. I have 2 questions:

Calibration during start:

What does it mean calibration during start at once or 1 hour are possible entries? Does this mean that the calibration is done 1 hour after Start or at once? What is the purpose.

Calibration time::

I can only chose 168 hours as a maximum, although I would prefer 1 month as you proposed, because i'm using the printer not very often, because I have another HP-Laser that I'm using for bw prints.

I would prefer a calbration after every start and no calibration time.
