Hi @toconnor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to perform a factory reset on your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw printer. Let’s go through a few steps to help you reset it back to default settings.

Access the Printer Control Panel
On the printer’s touchscreen, swipe left or right to find and select the Setup icon (gear symbol).

Open Service Menu
Scroll down and tap Printer Maintenance or Service (depending on firmware version).

Select Restore Defaults
Choose Restore Defaults or Restore Factory Defaults from the list.
Confirm your selection when prompted — this will reset all settings including network configurations, custom preferences, and stored data.

Restart the Printer
Once the reset is complete, the printer will automatically restart.
Wait until it returns to the home screen before proceeding.

Reconnect Network (if required)
After the reset, you’ll need to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Go to Network Setup → Wireless Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard, and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect.

I hope this helps.
