Hi all,
I've got a (most probably rather cosmetic) question: I had to change the formatter board of my HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw due to a physical defect of the RJ45 connector. All seems to have been working well, so far. The only strange thing is that the printer starts to report as "HP Color LaserJet MFP M476nw" -- the version without a duplex unit:
- Product Name: HP Color LaserJet MFP M476nw
- Formatter Number: YF6159P
- Serial Number: CNB7******
- Service ID: 10001
- Firmware Datecode: 20190401
- Disable Fax: No
- Telecom Version: 05-039-002
- Location: Germany
- ADF Installed: Yes
- Max Monochrome Print Quality: 600x8
- Max Color Print Quality: ImageREt 3600
- Controller Number: 72
- Duplexer Version: 0
- Device Description: HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw
The duplex unit still seems to work. Interestingly, the "device description" still points to the correct name, only the "product name" seems to be wrong. The serial number is crossed out on purpose for this post (BTW: I had to set it manually back to the original one by applying these steps: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/M476-Serial-number-reset/td-p/5638337).
Does anybody know if this change of product name has any side effects? Is there any possibility t set it back to the right one (similarly to setting the serial number)?
Thank you very much in advance!
Kind regards,
Steffen

if it works, leave it. The product number can't be changed as serial.
You probably installed a used formatter board from M476nw. The new board would have automatically serial number set or have al XXXXXXXXXX as serial.
Do you have a record of the serial number of the replacement board ( before change)? You can use https://partsurfer.hp.com/ to search more details about the device based on the serial number.
