HP DeskJet 3762 All-in-One Printer
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hello, I just purchased an HP DeskJet 3762. Out of the box, it doesn't work. I plug it in and after a moment an error message starts flashing.

To be specific, a big 'E' flashes in the small screen. But the other pixels flash, too. And the 'on' button also flashes. Nothing works, no components move. When I open the front panel to try to install the cartridges, the printer head doesn't move (it's hidden off to the left, I think), so I can't install the cartridges.

I've tried locating the printer using the HP Smart app, but the app can't find the printer. It just looks and looks, no result.

I've unplugged it and plugged it back in dozens of times, no result.

Any suggestions before I take it back?

Thanks

Hi @grant051,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting an error message on your  HP DeskJet 3762 All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • I would like to know if you have unboxed the printer completely?

While you respond to that, please follow the below instructions:

Refer to this document and check if there are any paper or packing materials stuck inside the printer. (Reference Video)

Try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Also, try the steps in the document-Blinking Lights

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
