HP DeskJet 4255e printer won't print showing installation status not installed but sometimes it prints not often

Since the printer sometimes works but often shows “Installation status: Not installed,” I’d check whether Windows is losing the printer connection or the HP software installation is incomplete. Try removing the printer from Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, then restart the computer and reinstall it using the official HP Smart app. Make sure the printer is connected properly to Wi-Fi or USB, depending on how you use it.

If the problem continues, check whether the printer shows as offline or has multiple copies listed in Windows’ printer settings. Also, since you’re using 32-bit Windows 10, make sure any driver or software you install supports that version.
