HP Officejet 4622 e-All-in-One Printer

I have a very reliable old HP Deskjet 950C and would like to continue using it under WIN11 (64-bit - ARM-based processor). Unfortunately, I cannot find a suitable printer driver for this printer. Is there a universal printer driver I can try instead?

Hello Gaya1239!
Thank you for the 4 pieces of advice.
Unfortunately, all were unsuccessful.
I will probably have to buy another printer.

Hi @HaJue,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Unfortunately, the HP DeskJet 950C is an older printer, and HP does not provide specific drivers for Windows 11, especially for ARM-based systems. However, you may still be able to use it with a universal print driver or through built-in generic printer support in Windows 11. Here's what you can try:

1. Use the Windows Update Catalog

  • Connect the printer to your system.
  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and select Add a printer or scanner.
  • If Windows doesn’t automatically find the driver, select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  • Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  • Under Use an existing port, select the port your printer is connected to (e.g., USB001).
  • On the next screen, click Windows Update to fetch available drivers. After the list updates, look for HP DeskJet 950C Series or a similar driver and install it.

2. Use the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) HP Universal Print Driver for Windows

The HP Universal Print Driver (PCL5 or PCL6) might work as a generic driver:

  • Download the HP Universal Print Driver from HP’s website.
  • Choose the Dynamic Mode version if available.
  • Install the driver and follow the on-screen instructions to configure it for your DeskJet 950C.

Note: The HP UPD may not support ARM-based processors directly, but it’s worth trying if your Windows system allows it in compatibility mode.

3. Generic Printer Driver

If neither of the above works, try the built-in Microsoft IPP Class Driver:

  • Follow the steps in Add Printer as mentioned above.
  • Instead of selecting the printer model, choose a generic driver, such as Microsoft IPP Class Driver or Generic/Text Only.
  • These may allow basic printing functionality.

4. Use Print in Compatibility Mode

You could also try running older drivers (e.g., Windows 7 or 😎 in compatibility mode:

  • Download the older driver for the HP DeskJet 950C if available.
  • Right-click the installer, select Properties > Compatibility, and choose a previous Windows version.
  • Install the driver and test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
