HP Deskjet 2050
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I recently upgraded my OS to MacOS Mojave. When I wanted to install the driver for my HP Deskjet 2050, it wasn't available. I've tried HP Easy Start but it still won't work. It says that it's printing on the screen, but nothing happens in 'real life'. Please help!

@Danel_aardskind,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

You can install the printer using the Apple Software Update.

Please follow the steps below:

First, check if there are any updates available for your MAC.

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences.

  • Click Software Update to check for updates.
  • If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them.
  • When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, macOS and all of its apps are also up to date.

Now add the printer using the Apple Software Update

  • Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  • Click Printers & Scanners or Print & Scan.
  • If your printer is listed, click the name of your printer, then click the minus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/161/c01861703.gif to delete the printer.
  • Click the plus signhttps://support.hp.com/doc-images/466/c03678294.gif, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer.
  • Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

( For printers connected on Wireless select AirPrint or Secure Airprint)

  • Click Add to add the printer to the list.
  • Try to print

The HP DeskJet 2050 software is actually provided by Apple as part of Apple Software Update.  Using the instructions provided above should get the OS to automatically discover the correct software and download it from Apple.

If that process does not work you can download the HP Driver Package from Apple here.

Unfortunatley it doe snot look like the DeskJet 2050 supports AirPrint.
