HP Deskjet 2130 installed on MacBook Air macOS Sequoia 15.5 via printer and scanner, but print jobs are only displayed briefly and disappear again without being printed. The printer cannot be recognized via the HP Smart app. It is connected to the Mac via USB-B to USB-C cable. There are no printers and drivers for this printer / MacBook online. Any idea what else I can do?

Hi @FredericMeltzer,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printing issues with the HP DeskJet 2130 on a MacBook Air (macOS Sequoia)!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Cable Connection:
- Ensure your USB-B to USB-C cable is securely connected to both the printer and the MacBook Air. Try using another cable or port to rule out physical connection issues.
Reset the Printing System:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Control-click (or right-click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System. This action clears the printer system, allowing you to re-add the printer.
Install Generic Printer Driver:
- While specific drivers for HP DeskJet 2130 might not be available, you can often use a generic driver:
- When re-adding the printer in Printers & Scanners, look for a generic or universal driver option (such as "HP DeskJet Series" or "Universal printer driver").
Use Update Software Feature:
- Ensure your macOS is fully updated (System Preferences > Software Update). Updates can sometimes include additional drivers or compatibility fixes.
Print Using CUPS:
- Enable CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) to access advanced printer settings:
- In your web browser, go to http://localhost:631.
- Under "Printers," locate your DeskJet 2130 and try printing a test page.
Check Paper and Ink:
- Verify that there is sufficient paper loaded and that ink cartridges are functioning correctly.
- Sometimes physical or consumable issues prevent printing.
Diagnostic Utilities:
- Use Apple's built-in diagnostic utilities for printers. If the printer is recognized but not printing, these utilities can aid in problem identification.
Alternative Printing Methods:
- Try printing a test page from a different application or use the "Print to PDF" option to see if print jobs are held up by software compatibility.
I hope this helps.
