Hi @HHMH14,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 3630 series, the admin password and username setup are generally associated with the printer's embedded web server (EWS) or for accessing advanced settings. Here's how you can reset the admin password or troubleshoot it:

Default Username and Password

  1. Default Username: Most HP printers use admin as the default username. If you haven't set a custom admin username, it should work.
  2. Default Password: In some cases, there is no default password, and the field may be left blank. Alternatively, the password could be printed on a label on the back or bottom of the printer, or on a network configuration report.

Steps to Reset the Admin Password

To reset the admin password, you will need to restore the printer to factory settings:

Restore Factory Settings:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons together for 3-5 seconds. This should restore the network settings to default and may reset the admin password as well.

Reconfigure the Printer: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Use the HP Smart app or Embedded Web Server (EWS) to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and reconfigure settings.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS): Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • After resetting, print a network configuration report:
    • Press the Information button (i) to print the report.
  • Find the printer's IP address on the report.
  • Enter the IP address in a web browser to open the EWS.
  • Log in with admin as the username and leave the password blank (if applicable).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the response.

Holding Cancel and Wireless button together for 3 to 5 seconds took the printer into setup mode. It did not reset the EWS admin user/pwd.

On the EWS, I tried functions that require admin credentials and none of the recommended combinations worked

Are there any other ways to reset the admin creds?

I have seen some similar threads with accepted solutions, but all of them have been via private messages e.g..
