Hi there folks,

my new all-in-one printer and scanner is shown only as printer in OSX 1.7.5 printer/scanner settings.

I couldn't find any solution how to make the scanner work.. Is this a operating system issue maybe?

thanks in advance.

Alex

Hi @Gutrai,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers

I understand that you are getting an error" Scanner driver doesn't show up in OSX 1.7.5"

No worries, I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Are you able to make a copy?

Is printing working fine?

Follow the below steps to fix the issue.

Restarting the computer and printer can restore a lost scan connection.

Step 1

  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Make sure the printer power cord connects directly to an electrical outlet and not through a surge protector or power strip.

  3. Close all running programs on your computer then shut down the computer.

  4. Turn on the printer.

  5. Turn on the computer.

  6. Try to scan.

Step 2

Reconnect the USB cable directly to a different port on the computer. If problems continue, unplug all other devices from any of the other USB ports and use a different USB cable to connect the printer.

  • Connect to a different USB port: Connect the cable to a different USB port on the computer. If you are connecting to a USB 3.0 computer port, try connecting to a USB 2.0 port.

  • Disconnect from a USB hub or docking station: If you connected the printer through a USB hub or docking station, try connecting the cable directly to a port on the computer.

  • Try a different USB cable: Use a different USB cable. HP supports USB cables less than 3 meters (9 ft 10 in) in length.

  • Disconnect other USB devices: If you have several USB-connected devices, the computer might not have sufficient power for the USB ports to detect all of them. Disconnect other USB devices that are not in use.

If removing other devices resolves the issue, HP recommends installing a powered hub to connect multiple USB devices.

Hello Raj1788,

many thanks for your answer

I am able to print and copy on the HP DJ3639, the only thing, that's making me problems is the lack of scanner support.

I tried to restart the system, but no scanner did show up when clicking the (+) button in the printer/scanner options of my OSX.

When i connected the scanner via USB, It gives me only the options to add a second USB printer (apart from the already existing AirPrint) - but no scanner driver...

Thanks for your support

Sincerely

Alex

Thank you @Raj1788

I did everything that stood in the troubleshooting material and finally the scanner works - I have to say a needed to use a 3rd party scanning software (the HP EasyScan had a version too high for my OSX and ImageCapture shows no scanners), but neverthless i got my scanner running - YIPEE! 🙂

thanks again..
