New printer bought and installed about a month ago, worked fine. Recently we had some problems with our home wifi, and when trying to print got only a 'printer offline' message.

Now we have a new router with a new wifi network and password. I can't work out from the manual how to connect the printer to this new network.

The instructions in the manual seems to be you have to do this via your computer, not on the printer itself.

But the HP Smart software says the printer is offline. The 'diagnose and fix' option then says 'offline, make sure it is connected to the same network as the laptop'. Doesn't tell me how to achieve that...

I tried 'connect a new printer' and it says it can't find one.

Totally baffled. Help please?

Hello,

Then try to install it over Wi-Fi by doing the following:

Press a series of buttons on the printer to reset the wireless settings to ensure a successful connection.

  1. Go to Devices and Printer to delete your printer icon.
  2. Make sure the printer is on.
  3. If the wireless indicator light is flashing, go to the next step to continue the software installation.
  4. Press and hold down the Power button ().
  5. While holding down the power button, press the Start Black Copy button () two times, and then press the Cancel button () three times.
  6. Release the power button. The Wireless light next to the Wireless button should be flashing. Repeat these steps if the Wireless indicator does not blink.
  7. Proceed immediately to the next step to continue the software installation. You have approximately 20 minutes to complete the software setup using the HP Auto Wireless Connect feature.
  8. Launch the printer software installed on the desktop and click Connect a new printer.
  9. Follow these steps to set up your wireless connection when the HP Automatic Wireless Connection screen appears:
    • Select Yes, send my wireless settings to the printer, and then click Next.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software installation and wireless network setup for the printer.

I remain at your disposal in case of need.

Hello community!

Before looking for your printer on HP Smart to make the connection, the ideal would be that you reset the network so that your printer is in Setup mode and is found by HP Smart. The following link will help you to do the network reset:

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer
