HELP !!  Initially I was going to get a Win 10 computer but instead opted for a Win 7 Pro 64 bit.  HP support sent me to your link at the time when I was thinking of Win 10.  The computer I replaced was an older Win 7 Pro 64 bit.  At that time I had to use the 990c driver for my HP Deskjet 6122 and it worked perfectly.  On the old computer I could find the driver listed where you show to go for drivers.  BUT, now, 990c is not listed and I cannot find ANYWHERE on the web to download the driver.  You have got to help me; I swear by the 6122 and hope to get it up and running again.

PLEASE??

Sylvia D

There are a few options for Deskjet 6122 printer in x64 Windows 7.  Any of these should work, it sounds like you have tried the first one already without success.

  • Use the Deskjet 990c driver available through Windows Update.  (I just checked this on an old Windows 7 x64 machine and it did show up. The "hp deskjet 990c" driver shows up just below the "HP Deskjet 9800".)
  • Use the Officejet Pro 8600 driver as described in the post here:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Deskjet-6122/m-p/6084806
  • Download the Deskjet 990c driver from the Microsoft Windows Catalog site.  You will want the file that is 11.6Mb in size; the others listed are not x64 architecture.  Click the Download button on the right.  This will open a new window.  In the new window click on the 4188_bacd1413e93b4a6362d9a2ca653c869f1c02f6f7.cab link which will download the cab file.  Once the cab file downloads open it and extract the file to a convenient folder.  Now go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, select the proper port, Next.  Now choose "Have a Disk" and browse to the folder where you extracted the cab file.  There will be a number of driver files presented, the HP Deskjet 990c will be a choice.

I have wIndows 7 enterprise and I can't get the 990c driver to work for the Deskjet 6122. Any suggestions? I love this printer and have a lot of ink for it- I hate that I cant get it to install.

What have you tried?  Are there any error messages? Were you able to install the driver?

If you are using the enterprise version of Windows 7 you may have defaults that do not allow normal users to install drivers.  You may need to check the group policies and/or install the drivers as a user with admin capability.
