My Activity Monitor is showing HP Device Monitor Constantly Taking 70% of my CPU which is making my system very laggy and causing issues with reponsiveness of other programs.

I've referenced https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-Device-Monitor-Constantly-Taking-70-88-of-CPU/td-..., but it is not resolving the issue.  I've completely reset, then uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Easy Start app, but the issue remains.

PLEASE HELP!  I can't run this printer and a zoom meeting at the same time.

Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1 (Catalina)

Kumar - unfortunately, this only solved my problem for a short period of time.  HP Device Monitor is back at its bad behavior, taking up 30-50% of my CPU.  This gets even worse when I am using Zoom.  Is there a patch, or a known problem that I can report for review?

I have removed all of the HP software from my Mac which has solved the lagging issue.  I will wait to hear from you before reinstalling. In the meantime, I'm unable to use the device for printing and scanning.

@leabig

You may update the MAC software and the printer firmware and Install the printer using AirPrint driver as suggested in my previous post.

Let me know how it goes.

I too am having the same problem.  I followed all the steps in both posts and my system is still slowed very significantly by this HP Device Monitor using up system resources.  A fix for this HP software bug would be most appreciated.

I have done this already Kumar. The only solution to the system issue has been to completely remove all HP software from my device. Now I am without a printer until there is a fix. What is the update on your end?

HP Recommended

@leabig, @CWW1, Thank you for your patience. Since you have tried all the troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, I will have to replicate the issue on a MAC in the lab to find a solution.

I will keep you posted.
