Hi Paul Y,

I'm glad you are happy with this trick. But I don't deserve credit for something I didn't invent myself. This way of starting the original scan software was mentioned in another discussion. And it is only a workaround to start the scan software. The HP Solution Center is still not accessible now that Flash is no longer there 😢

I got my HP Solution Center working and here is what I did, I hope it works for you I am running windows 10 64 bit:

  1. Download and run the Adobe Flash Uninstaller direct from Adobe here (instructions provided on this page how to fully remove Adobe Flash Player) - https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_...
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Uninstall the files in the video (c:\windows\system32\macromed & c:\windows\syswow64\macromed)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuE324nIgig
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Uninstall Internet Explorer using both methods listed here)- https://www.windowscentral.com/how-remove-internet-explorer-11-windows-10
  6. Restart your computer
  7. Uninstalled adobe flash embedded in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. I have windows 10 64 bit version 1909. To determine this, go to system update history and look through your updates to see what version.

Then go to the link to down the uninstaller for your version) -http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=4577586

  1. Down the update and and it will uninstall Adobe Flash.
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Down loaded and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, for me it indicated issue with Windows wia scan, if you do not have an issue go to step 13. here is the link)- https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/printscandoctor
  4. Restart computer
  5. Then I updated my windows wia by following this link)- https://windowsreport.com/you-need-wia-driver/
  6. Restart your computer
  7. Uninstall HP solution Center, make sure your printer is turned off and not connected to computer
  8. Restart Computer
  9. Reinstall HP solution Center, once installed check to make sure it is working.
  10. Create a restore point in case of future issues or accidental update
  11. Here is a link to stop Adobe Flash from updating, see my comment below as flash is on my computer but not installed)- https://www.technipages.com/disable-prevent-flash-player-update-prompts

Reinstalling HP Solution Center added an older version of  Adobe Flash on my computer and is in folder c:\windows\syswow64\macromed, however it was never installed as you will see in photo.

My HP Solution center works even though flash was not actually installed. Not sure why but I am glad I got my all in one working again. Good Luck!

UPDATE:  The solution I posted works for me on Windows Vista, perhaps it will also work on Windows 7 (not sure), but many people report this solution does not work on Windows 8 or 10 because Internet Explorer has it's own built-in version of Flash and so refuses to install the file listed in this solution.

SUGGESTION TO TRY FOR THOSE ON WINDOWS 8 OR LATER:

Try an older version of Adobe Flash Player.  Here is a site that has an archive of older versions - http://www.oldversion.com/windows/macromedia-flash-player/   Perhaps you can try version 9, which doesn't have a specific install for Internet Explorer.  For me, the HP Solutions Center software has a copyright date of 2007, so older versions of Flash might just do the trick, however  I am unable to test this myself.  If any of you have any success, please post back and let others know.  Good luck!

Easy FIX: Paint-File-From scanner or camera-Preview-Scan

Thank you @Jim412 for the solution! I've got Solution Centre successfully running again on W10 (64-bit v. 20H2)

Worked for me, except the disabling of the Adobe Flash Player Updater. It was not even installed.

Only drawback is that we now have a very old Flash Player ActiveX control installed (2009), which opens many security holes. I really hope HP comes upp with a solution to run HP Solution Center in a safe way!

@Jim412, thanks a lot for your detailed explanation!
