HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2606sdw Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops version 22H2, OS Build 19045.6282 updatd with latest updates

I have HP MFP2606sdw printer

I am unable to install HP Printer software from HP support page as they all give below error.

How do I resolve this? Please help.

Earlier scanner feature was working but now I am unable to use Scanner using Adobe PDF scan feature. But I can use scanner using Vuescan. However I need manual duplex scanning using Doc feeder and hence need Adobe pdf scanner functionality. When I use Adobe scan feature, printer gives error 79. I have tried resetting printer by disconencting from power source, USB etc and also reinstalled firmware but no luck,

Printer works with HP Smart which I can install but none of the other software from below list

This SW doesnot works and give the error as in screenshot:
HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver
HP Universal Scan - Basic Feature Software and Driver

Hi @Clive604

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the detailed info and screenshots about the compatibility error with your HP MFP2606sdw printer on Windows 10 Enterprise version 22H2.

Here’s a clear and positive approach to resolve the issue:

Understanding the Issue:

The error messages indicate that the HP driver software you are trying to install is not fully compatible with the specific Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 build you have. This is why the installer either fails or shows missing entry point errors.

Steps to Resolve HP Driver Compatibility Issue:

Use HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) – PCL6 Version
The Universal Print Driver supports many models and is often more compatible across Windows versions:

Download and install the HP Universal Print Driver (PCL6) in "Dynamic" mode.

This should provide basic printing and scanning capabilities without model-specific installation issues.

Use Windows Built-in Drivers for Scanning
Since scanner functionality is critical and Adobe PDF scan isn't working, try using:

Windows Fax and Scan app or Windows Scan app (available from Microsoft Store).
These can work with your device without needing additional HP scanner drivers.

Use HP Smart App for Full Functionality
Since HP Smart app works, you can use it for scanning, printing, and managing the device until full driver compatibility is resolved.

Run Windows Update
Sometimes Windows Update includes compatibility fixes and newer drivers that can solve these issues.

Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update

Check for updates and install all optional driver updates.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

For now, the UPD + HP Smart combo is the best practical workaround.

Please let me know if you'd like help with downloading or setting up the Universal Print Driver or using Windows scanning apps for your current needs. I'm here to assist!
