Hi!

My printer will not print in colour, only monochrome. I think it began when I printed something off via the Internet and selected monochrome, instead of colour. I've tried to change it back, but it just won't work and now it will only print word documents in monochrome too.

I have tried to locate the colour settings when printing a word document under: PRINT; Printer Properties; Paper/Quality; Advanced etc. However, there is no reference to changing the colour. I have also uninstalled the printer from my laptop and tried to change the settings under the control panel, however it still makes no difference - it will only print in monochrome.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi @MrG-123

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Install the printer using Windows built-in driver (Uninstall the previously installed driver)

Refer to this document to know how.

Try printing in color.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using TCP/IP port

1) Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the wireless icon at the bottom of the printer screen
2) Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
3) Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
4) Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
5) Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you! I followed your advice...

I did a standalone copy and it came out in colour.

I then uninstalled the printer from my control panel and reinstalled it using the wizard - this worked. I can now both print in colour and see the colour tab/options under printer preferences!

Thanks again for your help - it's saved so much time!
