HELP PLEASE!!! My HP ENVY 4520 wireless printer will NOT print in color. I've spent a whole week googling and reading multiple methods to fix this issue and nothing has or will work. The main problem is that when I go to printer preferences, it does not even give me an option to print in color. There's no greyscale option either. I've removed the program and driver, restarting and unplugged over and over and it still will not work. Please help me I desperately need this to be resolved as i rely on colored prints for my business and I am not in the financial spot to buy a whole new printer.

I understand you've been through quite a lot trying to fix this issue! Let's try a few more troubleshooting steps to get your HP ENVY 4520 printing in color again:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure Proper Installation: Make sure that the color ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no obstructions.
  • Check Ink Levels: Even if the cartridges are properly installed, low ink levels can sometimes cause color printing issues. Check the ink levels in the HP Smart app or printer control panel.

2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for your printer model. Make sure to select the correct operating system version.

3. Set Printer Preferences

  • Access Printer Preferences: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click on your HP ENVY 4520 printer > Printer Properties.
  • Check Color Options: In the Printing Preferences tab, ensure that there is no option selected that might restrict color printing. If the option to print in color is missing, it might indicate a driver or software issue.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

5. Check HP Smart or Printer Software Settings

  • Reinstall HP Smart: Uninstall the HP Smart app and reinstall it. Sometimes a fresh install can resolve software-related issues.

6. Printer Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Update Firmware: Sometimes updating the printer firmware can resolve color printing issues. Check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

7. Try a Different Print Application

  • Test Another Application: Sometimes the issue might be with the application you are using to print. Try printing from a different program or app to see if the color option appears there.

8. Check Printer Settings on Computer

  • Windows Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your printer, and click on Manage. Check if there are any settings related to color printing here.
