HP ENVY 5055 both Mac and Windows are connected, but won't print. Both spool to the queue, printer sees the job, but never prints. Any idea how to fix this?

@idap, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 5055 is connected to both Mac and Windows systems, and both spool print jobs to the queue but the printer doesn't actually print, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Cycle Everything

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from power for 60 seconds.
  • Restart both your Mac and Windows computers.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Status

  • On the printer's control panel, ensure it's not in an error state (e.g., paper jam, low ink, offline).
  • Make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as both computers.

Clear Print Queue

  • On Windows:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click the HP ENVY 5055 > See what's printing > Cancel all documents.
  • On Mac:
    • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select the printer > Open Print Queue > Cancel all jobs.

Set as Default Printer

  • Ensure the HP ENVY 5055 is set as the default printer on both systems.

Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Windows:
    • Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers for the ENVY 5055.
  • Mac:
    • Remove the printer from Printers & Scanners, then re-add it.
    • macOS usually installs the correct driver automatically.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.

Print a Test Page

  • Try printing a test page directly from the printer or from the printer settings on your computer.

Try HP Smart App

  • Install the HP Smart app on both Mac and Windows.
  • It can help diagnose issues and ensure the printer is properly configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
