HP ENVY 5530
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Doing some basic maintenance on my primary workstation I found that HP ENVY 5530 had installed an application called
"Product Improvement Study for HP ENVY 5530"

I am wondering why this is in my system, why I keep getting constant reminders to buy toner and much more as I have not, nor ever have or ever will buy a HP ENVY 5530 printer.

In fact I had to search the web to find out what an HP ENVY even was.

This is a very bad practice to install software for things the user does not even have.
I do have an HP printer named HP LaserJet 1018 from some 15 years back.

This to my knowledge is the only piece of hardware I have ever had from HP inside my home.

To "answer the study" regarding product improvement the only way I can would then be by saying;

"Get off my system you stupid software!"

Thanks KrazyToad.
I did receive some contact form but not via email though over this forum where the sender claimed to be VP of sales or something.
That went directly in the garbage as per my PCP (Paranoid Computing Policy).

If I get contacted it should be directly via e-mail or in a public post on this forum.
Everything else goes in the garbage bin asap.

Sometimes when I get questions from tech support staff whom apparently fail to read the entirety of my prior message I do tend to get a bit testy. Possibly understandable in this case.

The recent event is with some individual named Jeff and now I simply wonder if this response was what he wanted to get in plain English to work out why HP installs software on a PC without any HP hardware presently attached to it.

After giving ample information about my personal details without going into the size of socks, shoes or color of underwear I stated to the question Serial Number "N/A" and Product Model Name "N/A"

N/A being the standard English acronym for "Not applicable" as I have no hardware of the type discussed installed or attached, nor ever have (and as things look now, never will).

Then I received the infallable follow up question;

"

Please include:

              Serial Number:

              Product Model Name

"

My response to which goes as follows;

Serial number: I have no clue as this is a no name computer with an ASUS Motherboard that I bought siz years ago form a local store and put inside a case from Apevia, a big nice shiney blue one of type Midi-tower. The CPU is an AMD 625 II x64 which I bought from a colluege when I worked as an IT tech here in my little town of 20 000 residents some 7 years back.

The product name is "Mikes computer with no particular name".

Does that suffice to answer your question?

Now what is HP Envy software doing on my PC?
