Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP ENVY 6452e printer appears offline but isn't, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Verify Printer Status
Ensure your printer is turned on and in a ready state. Check for paper in the tray, sufficient toner/ink, and that no error messages or blinking lights are displayed on the printer control panel.
Step 2: Restart Devices
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
- Restart the Router: Disconnect the power cable from the router, wait ten seconds, reconnect the cable, and wait for the internet connection to complete.
- Restart the Computer: Turn off your computer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
Step 3: Verify Network Connection
Ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same network. Move them closer to the wireless router if necessary and ensure the wireless signal is strong.
Step 4: Set the Default Printer
Open Devices and Printers
- From the Windows Start menu, go to Control Panel, then View devices and printers under Hardware and Sound.
Set Default Printer
- Right-click the printer name that matches your HP ENVY 6452e and select Set as Default Printer.
Step 5: Check Printer Port and Services
Open Printer Properties
- Right-click your printer in the Devices and Printers window, select Printer Properties, and go to the Ports tab.
Check Windows Services
- Open Services from the Windows search bar.
- Locate Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication. Ensure their status is Running and the startup type is set to Automatic.
Step 6: Clear Print Spooler
Open Services
- From the Windows Start menu, go to Windows Administrative Tools, and select Services.
Restart Print Spooler
- Right-click Print Spooler, select Properties on the General tab.
- Set Startup type to Automatic, click Start under Service status, then press OK.
Step 7: Create a Manual IP Connection
If the printer is network-connected:
Print a Network Configuration Page
- From the printer’s settings, locate Network Configuration Page.
Open EWS
- Open an internet browser, type the printer’s IP address, and press Enter.
Manually Configure IP
- In the EWS, go to Network or Networking tab, select Manual IP, and apply the configuration.
Add Printer Port in Windows
- Go to Devices and Printers, click the printer name, select Printer Properties, and go to the Ports tab.
- Add a new TCP/IP port using the IP address.
