Hi @MaryMouse123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 printer is not showing the option to print in color and it's not available in preferences, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot.
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your color ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink. Low ink levels can sometimes prevent color printing.
Printer Settings:
- On your computer, open the Control Panel or System Preferences depending on your operating system.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers (Windows) or Printers & Scanners (Mac).
- Locate your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 printer, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) on it, and choose "Printing Preferences" or "Printer Preferences".
- Look for a setting related to color options. Ensure that color printing is enabled and set as the default option if available.
Driver Update:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Install the updated drivers on your computer and check if the color printing option becomes available.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 printer.
- Follow the instructions on the HP Support website to update the printer's firmware.
Check Printer Settings Directly:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate through the settings menu to find the printing preferences.
- Verify that color printing is enabled and try printing a color test page directly from the printer.
Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and your computer can resolve minor software issues.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, there may be a more complex issue with the printer's hardware or software configuration
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
