Would HP please weigh in on this issue? Is it true that you are not releasing a driver for a HP Officejet Pro 6970 to work with Sonoma? When I use HP Easy Start it will find my printer just fine and then when I click on Continue the message I get is "We were not able to automatically locate any software options for this product. Please go to the HP Website and search for product solutions there." When I do just that using the link provided your program again finds my printer just fine, including the serial number, and under this is the word "Expired" in red font. Can it be true that you do not provide drivers for products that out of warranty???

So, faced with the same problem I really didn't want to use the new app.
Easy Start tries but fails to install the drivers and configure the printers - that's probably due to some quirkiness n the new macOS that they didn't expect (and can't be arsed fixing).
Given that the drivers and Easy Scan applications don't break if you have them installed and upgrade the OS, it suggests that they are fine (they are if you install them manually).
If you run Easy Start (and it fails), look at what it tries to download in its log file (it's in ~/Library/Logs).
That's two installers:
/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/macOS13/hp-printer-essentials-H-5_17_5_1.pkg
HTTPS://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12
/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/macOS13/hp-easy-scan-2_0_0_2.pkg
Having downloaded and installed them (you may need to install Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon machines), you just need to add the printer manually (picking the appropriate driver).
Once upon a time HP cared. Bill and Dave will be spinning in their graves.
