Hey everyone,
I recently went to use my printer(Officejet 4650 All-in-One) after a couple months of non-use. During the period of not using the printer I noticed there was an update on the printer screen so I did it. Well last night I went to scan something and repeatedly received messages about 'Unable to Communicate". After some research, I reset the printer with no luck and eventually uninstalled the printer. I tried the HP app which did not work, so I went ahead to HP's website to install the drivers. I installed the "HPPrinterDrivers5.1dmg" with no issue. I then went on to install HP Easy Start and this is where my problems begin again. The install gets through the HP Easy Start download and install ok, but then it got stuck on "Retrieving Information" for about an hour before going to the next screen. The next screen asked if I use HP for home or business and zip code and once I hit continue, then it was back to "Retrieving Information" overnight. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi @Woogster
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer is AirPrint compatible. Installing the printer using AirPrint driver may resolve this issue.
First, check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC
- Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
- On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
- Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
- Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
- Note: There should be 0% packet loss, if 0% loss, proceed to the next step. If you get 100% loss, check the connectivity.
- Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
- This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the MAC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
To install the printer, follow these steps:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Use HP Easy Scan to scan. Refer to this document to know how to scan.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I was able to get the issue resolved this morning. I first used the HP easy start uninstaller to remove all printer software from my computer. I then restored all factory settings on the printer and reset my Wi-Fi router. After all the resets I read tried the HP easy start, and this time it was successful. Thank you for the help
