I have an HP Envy 5055 printer that I use via a USB connection. The printer went out of support January 2, 2024 but I've been able to print without any issues until March 18th when the HP Envy 5055 did not appear as a print option and I printed to a pdf file instead. I thought maybe it was removed somehow. I opened the HP Printer software for HP Envy 5530 series which is on my laptop, selected add a printer, selected USB. It then states that the printer is not connected, but it is. I tried a different cable and still not available. Under Windows, and Devices, it does show as an option. What am I missing? Thank you.

Hi @AnnetteH89,
Welcome to HP Support Community.

It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity issues with your HP Envy 5055 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Restart Your Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connection issues. Turn off both your printer and computer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.
Check USB Cable and Connections: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer. Try using a different USB port on your computer as well.
Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Envy 5055 printer. You can download and install the drivers from the HP website or use the HP Support Assistant software.
Check Printer Status: Check the display panel on your printer for any error messages or indicators that might suggest a problem with the printer itself.
Restart Print Spooler Service: Sometimes, restarting the print spooler service can help resolve printing issues. You can do this by following these steps:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
- In the Services window, locate the Print Spooler service.
- Right-click on it and select Restart.
Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the printer on your computer. To do this:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the HP Envy 5055 printer and select Remove Device.
- Disconnect the printer from your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Reconnect the printer and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall it.
Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with devices like printers.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the connectivity issues with your HP Envy 5055 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
