Hi there,
I have a HP Envy 5544 All-in-one printer and the original problem I had was an inability to print color from my laptop. However, I was able to print color from my smartphone and tablet using the HP app and the printer had full color ink cartridges, so I suspected there was a HP software issue.
Anyways, subsequently, I uninstalled the HP drivers/software from my laptop and now I cannot install the printer onto my laptop at all.
When I use the Windows default drivers to install the HP Envy 5544 printer, it will just say "Driver is unavailable". Then when I try to use the HP full software and drivers, it will 'install' it, but after I click finish and restart my computer, nothing has happened - no printer is installed, so I'm back to square one.
I have tried multiple methods as per different forum/post suggestions but I am yet to find an answer. The followings things that I've tried, which has not helped include:
- Plug/unplug/restart/clean the printer
- Reset the printer/router
- Remove HP registries/folders and try to reinstall all HP software/full drivers
- Use HP Print and Scan Doctor software
- Stop the Print Spooler and delete contents in the Printer spool folder
- Remove all windows firewall
- Manually input IP settings of printer
I use the following windows:
Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit
Version - 10.0.18363 Build 18363
The printer still prints normally if I use my tablet or smartphone, so I do not believe it's an issue with the printer. I am pretty convinced it is probably my current version of Windows 10, which is not compatible with the printer software/drivers, but I would really like HP to provide me with either an updated software driver or possible solution to this problem before my last ditch attempt to remove all the Windows 10 updates and revert to an older version.
Looking forward to possible suggestions/solutions,
Many thanks.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

If the issue persists, create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
