Everytime I try to print it just saves it as a .prn file and I can't print off of my laptop. I can print off my phone though. I tried looking through discussion boards trying to resolve the issue but none of them make any sense.

@simnonymous, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print from your computer. It seems like, while printing, the correct printer is not selected.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Use the HP Smart app to print from your computer.

Go to Printers and scanners and check if the printer is set as default.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
