After picking language and country, I started procedure ‘Install HP smart’, I entered my Apple password, After opening next page, I was prompted to turn on WiFi (used hotspot). Device was then noted as found by printer on it’s control panel. I was notified on printer panel that ‘Bluetooth Connection to the printer is too weak to begin setting up printer. Tried 4 times. Same denial of connection. I’m a bit a technically inexperienced with electronic devices. (thought Bluetooth was for speakers). Anyway, I thought a ‘hotspot’ should boost signal, so as not to be too weak to complete installation and pairing of I-phone and HP Envy 6155 printer. Salesman told me I could pair Printer and Apple device without using WiFi. Erroneous info? I tried the installation inside my 100 year old home with thick walls. Could that hinder signal between tablet and printer?

Hi @Zappa3
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It sounds like you're encountering a Bluetooth connection issue while trying to set up your HP Envy 6155 printer using the HP Smart app on your iPhone. I'll break down the situation, explain a few key points, and suggest steps to help you complete the setup successfully.
Key Points in Your Situation:
Bluetooth and WiFi for Printer Setup:
- Bluetooth and WiFi are both wireless technologies, but they serve different purposes and typically work in different ways.
- Bluetooth: This is a short-range, low-power wireless technology that allows devices to communicate over a relatively short distance (usually under 30 feet or 10 meters). It is not ideal for long-range communication and has limitations in terms of speed and range, especially through walls.
- WiFi: WiFi has much longer range and can transmit higher amounts of data. It is generally used for connecting printers to your home network so that devices (like your iPhone or tablet) can communicate with the printer through your WiFi network, not directly via Bluetooth.
