Basically it's exactly the same problem as this previous thread on this forum that I found when searching on Google.
It looks like it was never resolved and 3 years on HP are knocking out the next line of printers with same problem? Really poor.
Most days I have to power it off & on to get it to come back and allow printing even though it will accept print job from the email e-print service and I can connect to its HTTP interface to scan etc.
I've done the diagnostics, factory reset, it has static IP address.
The problem is with the printer as multiple devices are unable to print to it until we turn it off/on.
It's amazing really as my last home printer (bar an ill-fated Epson piece of rubbish) was HP which lasted for years before falling over, never once with a problem like this.
Hopefully someone can offer another suggestion otherwise it's going back and I'll have to consign HP to the never buy list 😞

Update: As of today I can now no longer connect to its web interface nor print to it over my local network, but it will print jobs received from the hpeprint service. You couldn't make up how rubbish this is 😂😂
I suppose I'll factory reset and waste more of my life on this.

Hi @Gozzy2000
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand the printer loses connectivity. I'd be happy to assist you.
Let's try the below steps to see if that helps -
1.) Remove All Barriers: Certain building materials can get in the way of weaker signals like Bluetooth. Metal, bulletproof glass, concrete, and plaster are particularly bad, and marble, plaster and brick aren’t great easy. So if you’re really struggling with interference, your first step should be to move your Bluetooth devices away from these materials. That means no brick walls between you and your devices, and definitely no metal desks!
2.) Change Router Channel: If you have an Apple router and you’re constantly getting interference with your WiFi, try rebooting it. Upon restart, the station will search for a new channel. Specifically, a different channel than the one your Bluetooth devices is using to communicate. If you don’t have an Apple router, you may need to instead go into your router settings and try changing the channel manually. Experiment with different channels to see which one works best.
3.) Move Closer to Your Router: If you often find that you’re getting interference when talking on a wireless headset while on a WiFi call (you’ll know because you’ll hear static), try moving closer to your router. This will give you a more robust WiFi connection, so the Bluetooth frequency can’t overpower it.
4.) Get Away From Microwaves and Fluorescent Lighting: Both emit frequencies of 2.4GHz, and moving away from them will distance you from the source.
Update the printer firmware
On the printer, go to Setup >Tools > Update printer > Check now
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
- Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
- Either 2.4G or 5G network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
- Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not going to follow any of these steps as there is no connectivity issue, I can print to the printer using the hpeprint service - so it's on the network.
Also since my last update I've now established other devices CAN print to the printer, but the 3 OSX (Catalina) devices on my network can't. I've had a look at the printer admin settings but can't see anything that would prevent OSX Macbooks printing to it.
To be clear, they all used to print ok, something has changed fairly recently. I guess it could well be an Apple update to OSX that's done something.

- I understand. You are able to use the ePrint service as the printer is connected to the Internet.
- However, you are not able to print from the MAC to the printer, there could be communication issues between the printer and the MAC.
- Before we can troubleshoot on the driver part, we will have to check the connections.
Keep me posted.
