Hello all,

 

For some days I have a problem: My printer Envy pro 6422 prints only black and white from all MS Office programs, although in the settings there is default 'color' The preview is also black and white. Printing from a pdf shows a colored preview but it prints also only black and white. 

I can prin in colors, when I print from the HP site, but this doesn't work properly (sometimes the preview window will not open) and even if it works, I have no more other functions I can choose (e.g. 'print at both sides'). 

Software is actualized, I have a Macbook pro with Mac OS Sonoma.

I don't know if it has to do with some updates, cause there were several, but two weeks ago it was still working.

If your HP Envy Pro 6422 printer is not printing in color from Microsoft Office programs and other applications on your Mac, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.

 

  1. Check Printer Settings:

    • Open the print dialog in the application you are trying to print from (e.g., Microsoft Word).
    • Make sure the printer selected is your HP Envy Pro 6422.
    • Click on the "Printer" or "Presets" menu and ensure that the printer settings include color printing. Verify that the option for color printing is selected.
  2. Print a Test Page:

    • Print a test page directly from your Mac to check if the printer is capable of color printing.
    • Go to "System Preferences" on your Mac.
    • Select "Printers & Scanners."
    • Right-click on your HP Envy Pro 6422 and choose "Print Test Page."
  3. Update Printer Drivers:

    • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Envy Pro 6422.
    • Visit the HP website or use the HP Easy Start application to download and install the latest drivers.
  4. Reset Printing System:

    • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
    • Select "Printers & Scanners."
    • Right-click on the list of printers and choose "Reset printing system."
    • After resetting, re-add your HP Envy Pro 6422 and try printing again.

Thank you very much for your long answer! Unfortunately, I tested all the possibilities you had written before and I checked it now again,  but the printer still prints only black and white from different programs like MS Word, PPTX, pdf. 

 

1. I can't upload a pic here, so then you would see that the printer settings contain 'color' from a pptx-printout, but in the preview, and the printout itself, is black-white.

2. The test print is in color, so there isn't any problem with filling or so.

3. The drivers are updated and I also de-installed and reinstalled the driver software, but nothing works. 

4. I removed the printer several times from my mac-settings and added it- nothing changes!

5.  See 2. Filling is ok and as soon as I print from the HP homepage, the colour works.

8. Macbook update is up to date, also all other software like MS office, pdf, Chrome etc.
