HP F2480
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I had previously Windows 10 and installed the driver for F2480 without any problem, but I had to replace my windows to 8.1 due to unrequested update, now the driver that I downloaded from HP Spain & US all shows installation language in Chinese, there's not even an option to choose the language in the installer. My question is

1) where can I find the English version of installer?

2) I can ask help to install the driver, after install how can I reset the language to English, or if someone can point me to the right direction on how to change the language, I tried to search on the net but none for this printer.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion/comment

@michaelbr I'm glad that changing the language using the article - Control Panel Displays the Wrong Language - (Thank you for sharing the link) helped as I've looked on the user guide among other places and this article just doesn't exist for your printer, I've forwarded a request to have this added, let's hope for the best, that said, if there's anything else you need help with, feel free to tag me or write back to us, anytime.

@michaelbr To confirm, you've installed Windows 8.1 (English version) and yet, when you install the HP Driver for your printer, you get the software that works in Chinese? If yes, how and where did you download the driver from?

While you respond to that, please remove the drivers and install the same from the HP website: Click here to download the same.

If that doesn't work, please install the HP Print and Scan doctor, and run a scan as it should help auto-detect the software you need and install the same: Click here to download.

And here's all you need to know about using the same: Click here.

@Riddle_Decipher I downloaded the software from HP site, the 1st time I went to HP Spain, after it started, the install language was in Chinese, I let it finish and tried to change language, but couldn't figure how, there's no option to change language, so I thought maybe someone put wrong language file in there, then I went to HP US, download the file again (the file name is the same), then the same thing happened. I guess someone made a mistake, placed a wrong file and it got propagated to other HP sites.

I tried your 1st solution, the same, it's also a Chinese version of the install. Then I tried your 2nd solution, unfortunately it did not work either, it asked to install .NET 2015, I clicked yes, then it said couldn't install because The <A HREF="http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=403643&clcid=[[clcid]]">update corresponding to KB2919355</A> needs to be installed before you can install this product on Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2. I tried to install KB2919355, it failed too, it said this KB2919355 does not apply to my OS (my guess it's already there). So now I'm stuck, don't have an English version of the driver, nor can I install HP doctor.

Is it possible for you to check where's en English version of the driver so I can just download it, it seems most of the HP sites got wrong version, maybe you have to get it from your backup.

Thanks for your help.

@michaelbr This is quite weird because the drivers seem to work fine (in English) on my device, that said, I have a few recommendations:

Please uninstall the printer, create a new administrator account profile, and install the printer using the link I shared on the new account to check if it works,

If the issue persists, please run the windows update troubleshooter using the below steps:

  • To run the troubleshooter, hit Start, search for “troubleshooting,” and then run the selection that search comes up with.
  • In the Control Panel list of troubleshooters, in the “System and Security” section, click “Fix problems with Windows Update.”
  • In the Windows Update troubleshooting window, click “Advanced.”
  • In the advanced settings, make sure that the “Apply repairs automatically” checkbox is enabled, click “Run as administrator” and then click Next. Giving the tool administrative privileges helps ensure that it can delete files in the download cache.

The troubleshooter works through its process and then lets you know whether it could identify and fix the problem. Most of the time, the troubleshooter can successfully remove a stuck update from the queue. Go ahead and try running Windows Update again. Even if the troubleshooter says it couldn’t identify the problem, it’s possible that the actions of starting and stopping the service and clearing out the cache did the trick.

And then use the below steps for a clean installation of the driver:

  • Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).
  • Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.

Then, use this link I shared earlier to install the full feature software driver and let me know how that pans out,

@Riddle_Decipher, thanks so much for your help and patience, I had previously Traditional & Simplified Chinese installed, so I thought it was messing up with the install, de-install those 2 languages, still the driver install showing Chinese language, so something else is triggering the drive to show Chinese, which means that the install apps should be multilingual, I'm really scared of messing with MS products, the last few times I tried to install update, it left me with broken Windows so I had to reinstall Windows & my apps, this is why I stopped installing updates in Windows.

As I said, I think the driver install apps should be multilingual, since it doesn't give me any language selection option, I can install it with help, then switch it to English, can you tell me how to do it? I tried internet, there are some hidden features to switch language, but I can't find any tips for this model.

@michaelbr When it comes to Windows, it doesn't matter which model or computer you've got, could you share the links you've found, so I know what you are referring to?

And meanwhile, here's a link that should help: Click here for instructions or if that doesn't work, try this: Click here

I hope that helps!

Good luck

@Riddle_Decipher, finally found where's the problem, I've setup to use local in Taiwan when I tried to setup an apps in Chinese and forgot to swtch it back to English, and HP driver picked it up and start installing using that local, it's strange because I've also installed an OKI printer and it showed language in English. It's solved now and I could intall the driver in English, thanks so much for your help and patience.

As for the link, this one from HP explains how to choose language to install driver, but my model is not there. I've seen other posts too, but no luck for my model.
