I’ve still yet to update to Sequoia 15.3.1 however I’m still getting the notification that says that the system extension will be incompatible with future versions of macOS. This would imply that the HO developers have not yet provided an update to support the legacy system extensions. Perhaps someone from HP would be prepared to comment.

Just talked with HP. No fixes forthcoming. Must replace 8 year old 8720. Have ordered equivalent from HP for $289 but with $100 discount only $199. Also ordered warranty extension for two more years for $66. It was a good printer, but no longer scans. Time for the garage sale. Griot99

I hear what you’re saying and clearly I don’t have much choice in the matter but is that really acceptable of a company like HP, who have deeper pockets than me, enforcing individuals to buy a new printer just because they can’t be bothered to do the system extensions. I guess that means I won’t be buying a new HP printer if customer care means that much to them. Still waiting for HP to join the conversation.

Much as I am unhappy about the deal from HP, I understand obsolesence. I've owned HP printers for decades and have always appreciated their help by telephone. Nobody responds quicker and better than HP. We tend to hang on to equipment, especially computers, for much longer than other people. But the evolution of technology is like a steamroller. Can't be stopped. Griot99

I have Sequoia 15.3.2 and I just (again) saw this warning. I also checked and the printer I have (M281) is still a current model they sell. So it seems that this is a far reaching problem that they must fix and that once they fix it, it should be a fix for several model printers. Apple uses CUPS protocols, as does HP, so I can't even think of why they would need a special extension. Probably something HP added to monitor supply levels or similar and nag you to buy from them.
I guess we will need to just wait and see how long it takes. And hope they don't arbitrarily break old model printers.

When I learned that my 8 year old 8720 print was no longer eligible for service and that there was no compatibility fix coming, I was persuaded by HP to by a 9125 e office jet pro. But I'm still getting those messages about not being able to use the Apple OS in the future. I still have my old printer, 8720, just to use up for copying a substantial amount of ink purchased not long ago. When I called HP to ask if this old printer could be still be connected so I could download items to it, I was brushed off curtly with "we not longer provide service..." So HP has dropped considerably for me. Don't know if I would buy another one after many years of enjoying such good service from the company.

My new MacBook Pro has the 15.3 update and was printing fine, until this morning... it started printing blank! Then, I went ahead and updated to MacOS 15.4 and problem still persisted. I then downloaded the HP Smart app and did a firmware update just in case it wasn't updating automatically. I haven't had any luck guys. My husband has his own printer (Canon laser) which I will use for new --- but, it is so SLOW. My HP Officjet Pro 8020 has been the best printer yet until today. So, I'm going to hold out and hope that a new firmware update is forthcoming, otherwise, it's time to fork our $$$ for a new one. arghh

HP Envy Inspire 7220e is the one that pops up on Apple search engine when I type HP... it's supposed to be compatible with latest products such as iMac 4 and MacBook Pro 4 with MacOs 15.0+. $169... i'm hoping it'll take the HP8020 inkjet since I have 2 full sets still
