Hi @Chris8811,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP InkJet 6950 experiencing a firmware or software glitch. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve bugs and glitches. Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer.

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads website.
  • Enter your printer model (HP InkJet 6950).
  • Look for firmware updates and follow the instructions to update your printer.

2. Reinstall Printer Drivers

Corrupted or outdated drivers can cause printing issues. Reinstalling the printer drivers can help.

  • Open the Device Manager on your PC.
  • Find your printer under "Printers," right-click, and select "Uninstall device."
  • Go to the HP website, download the latest drivers for your printer, and install them.

3. Check for Windows Updates

Ensure your Windows 10 is up to date, as updates can fix compatibility issues.

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click "Check for updates" and install any available updates.

4. Clear Print Spooler

The print spooler service manages print jobs. Clearing it can resolve stuck print jobs.

  • Type "Services" in the Windows search bar and open it.
  • Find "Print Spooler," right-click, and select "Stop."
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.
  • Go back to Services, right-click on "Print Spooler," and select "Start."

5. Check Printer Queue

Make sure there are no stuck print jobs in the queue.

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP InkJet 6950 and select "See what's printing."
  • If there are any stuck jobs, right-click and cancel them.

6. Reset Printing System

Resetting the printing system can clear any conflicts.

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click anywhere in the window and select "Printer properties."
  • Go to the "Advanced" tab and select "Printing Defaults."
  • Click "Reset."

7. Factory Reset the Printer

Performing a factory reset can clear any internal glitches.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Hold down the "Resume" button (triangle inside a circle) and press the "Power" button.
  • Keep the "Resume" button held down for about 20 seconds until the attention light turns on.
  • Release both buttons and the printer will reset.
