I have an HP Inkjet 8710 printer. After a Windows 11 upgrade, the printer function has failed but the scanner still works. I have uninstalled the printer drivers and reinstalled running setup and still get the same results. Is this 8710 not compatible with Windows 11 or am I missing a step?

Hi @RD280Z ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Inkjet 8710 printer is incompatible with Windows 11, as it's a relatively modern printer and should be supported by Windows 11. However, there could be several reasons why your printer is not working properly after the upgrade.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check for Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update might provide updated drivers or fixes for compatibility issues. Make sure your Windows 11 system is up to date by checking for and installing any available updates.
Download and Install Latest Drivers: Visit the official HP website and download the latest printer drivers specifically designed for Windows 11 for your HP Inkjet 8710 printer. Make sure to download the correct drivers for your printer model and operating system architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a free diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can help identify and resolve printing and scanning problems. Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to diagnose and fix any issues with your printer.
Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable and that the cable is not damaged. You can try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart Print Spooler Service: Sometimes, the Print Spooler service can encounter issues that prevent printers from functioning correctly. You can try restarting the Print Spooler service by following these steps:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
- Scroll down and locate the "Print Spooler" service.
- Right-click on the "Print Spooler" service and select Restart.
Reinstall Printer: Completely uninstall the printer drivers and software from your computer, then reinstall them using the latest drivers you downloaded from the HP website.
Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the HP Inkjet 8710 printer is set as the default printer in Windows 11 and that it is not set to offline mode.
