Hello,

The problem I have is that when I try to print a document, I just get a windiw on the Laptop screen asking me to save a copy. Also the scanner is not connecting. The photocopier is working however. All the right drivers are downloaded as well as the Canon Toolbox. What could be causing this ?  It's a new computer, but has had a recent Windows 10 update.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello,

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Canon MF driver several times and the Canon Toolbox, and the scanner is now finally working. The main problem seems to be when Windows10 do their updates - something always seems to go wrong afterwards..

Thank you for your help and a very Happy New Year.

In general, this can happen when the printer is not set at the "default" printing device.

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

Not HP printer...

You'll want to check at your regional Canon printer support site for help with your Canon printer setup.

Hello Dragon-Fur,

Thank you for your reply.

The default device doesn't arise in my case as I have only one device connected - the Canon Multi-function. It must be something in the computer that needs adjusting.

You are welcome.

Thanks for posting back.

What you describe is common - Windows Updates can wreak havoc on installed software - printer software, regardless of printer brand, is vulnerable to this kind of "upset".

There are some minor protections one can apply, most of which do not work that well; nothing seems to keep Windows in its corner when certain updates are applied.

Welcome to 2021 - hopefully a "better" year.

Smiling.
